FEWOCIOUS, THE DIVINE CHILD: THE NEW WAVE OF CRYPTO-ART

Contemporary artist Fewocious represents the new wave of crypto-art. He is one of the artists who started to exist thanks to NFT platforms.

At the age of 18, "Fewo" for his fans, wanted to free himself from the family influence that was working against his creativity. His emancipation came at the cost of his art. He began by selling works on canvas for between $50 and $1,000, before discovering the marketplaceSuperRare in March 2020. These works are now selling for a hundred times more! They no longer go unnoticed on the various marketplaces and for good reason, the artist borrows from both surrealism and graffiti.

He is not limited in his creativity, nor does he limit himself to rarity as the purist NFT culture would have it. Indeed, he never stops creating. He started with simple drawings before adding animations and sound to his NFTs, using everything that is popular in current art. Also, Fewocious collaborates with many artists, brands and does not shy away from coupling physical objects to his virtual pieces.

What are the advantages for an artist to use the NFT?

Having an NFT simply means being recognized as the holder of a digital certificate of ownership of a token. It’s a digital asset that will allow :

  • For the buyer, to speculate on its value,
  • For the author of the work to regain control of its monetization without an intermediary.

Indeed, the digital artist who was content to put his creations online only to see the Internet take them over without him being able to earn any remuneration can now transform his pictorial, audio or digital creations into NFTs. He will be able to obtain immediate remuneration by selling his NFTs on the marketplaces that are constantly multiplying. As a result, artists will have more opportunities to showcase their creativity.

Furthermore, the NFTs provide technical solutions to structural problems that the art economy has been facing for many years. This concerns the remuneration of the creative act. Thanks to NFTs, intermediation costs are reduced - decentralization, elimination of third parties - and a systematization of royalties is integrated, in particular through the implementation of smart contracts, similar to the droit de suite for physical works.

The NFT is much talked about and not without reason, as a new culture and cultural identity is emerging. Its future lies in its capacity to encourage the creator to regain control of his rights.
