Podcast "Data Talks": All about the Digital Services Act

How to face the data behemoths (Google, Amazon, Facebook) in the digital ecosystem: Can the upcoming Digital Services Act help our local businesses rebound?

The accelerating digitalization of society and the economy has created a situation in which a few large platforms control important ecosystems in the digital economy. They have become the gatekeepers of digital markets, with the power to act as private decision-makers, a power that is increasing with the pandemic and the forced digitalization.

SMEs and businesses in Europe are being undermined and subjected to unfair conditions simply by using these platforms in addition to reduced choice for consumers.

In view of these developments, the European single market needs a modern legal framework that guarantees the safety of online users, establishes governance with the protection of fundamental rights at the forefront and maintains a fair and open online platform environment.
