INDEPENDENT OPINION - France Charruyer: "The defense of digital liberties is a major issue

Founding partner of ALTIJ, delegate for innovation and digital issues at the Toulouse Bar Association, France Charruyer presents the Data Ring association, committed to sharing digital culture, which she created with Professor Jean-Luc Sauron.

What is the Data Ring Association and who does it include?

For the past four years, Data Ring has been bringing together legal professionals - lawyers, magistrates, students - or company managers who are in the data and digital ecosystem. The association promotes the sharing of knowledge and digital culture. Since 2017, the association has been actively involved in the dissemination of knowledge, via symposiums, notably at the National Assembly and the Senate. During the health crisis, we organized the distribution of free manuals on teleworking for SMEs, which were badly hit during the crisis. Since 2017, we have also naturally set up an informal tutorial with our digital students, with the universities in which we intervene, in France and in the Mediterranean basin, on our own small scale. To give you an example, the DPOs that I helped train at the University of Paris Dauphine (data protection officers) are all perfectly integrated professionally today and are tutors in their turn. Faced with an avalanche of requests since containment 1, 2 and the uncertain period to come, we wanted to structure this tutoring for law and/or digital students more broadly, to enable them to benefit from contacts with partner companies within the framework of an entirely voluntary skills sponsorship mechanism.
